Teas are fragile, especially loose leaf teas. They need special care to avoid them from spoiling too early. From personal experience, many of my teas have spoiled early because I failed to store them properly.
So what is the recommended way to store teas?
Most tea experts recommend to store loose leaf teas is in a plastic bag , or in a specifically designed tea canister. Although storing teas in decorative glass jars seems like a perfect solution, it should be avoided as it allows light to penetrate to the teas, thus letting them loose their flavor. Once stored in a proper container, teas should be kept in an area that is protected from light, sun, dampness odors, as any of these will diminish the teas flavor.
Well, use these suggestions and hopefully your teas will keep peak freshness for years to come!
Until next time,
