As we begin to get into the holiday season, it can be a very stressful and busy time. As such, we tend to neglect taking time for ourselves in the mist of all the busyness. I know for myself, I have almost altogether stopped having my afternoon tea, and downing a morning cup of tea instead, before heading off to work.
But having an hour, or even just an half and hour to yourself is important. I know for myself, if I have an hour for myself, I can be more relaxed. This is because, I take this time to think through what I have to do for the next few days, and that alone relaxes me. If I don’t have time to think through my agenda and plans for my blogs and goals in general, it is hard for me to be creative and certainly makes me forget why I do what I do.
You can even take your afternoon tea in the privacy and comfort of your room. Just boil some water and get out your favorite mug or tea cup. Then put on your coziest socks or comfortable clothing and get your favorite book, movie, and just take that hour to relax and rejuvenate yourself. Taking tea doesn’t have to be fancy. You can even take your tea in your pj’s if you rather.
I finally took the time for afternoon tea myself this afternoon. It felt so good to whip up some scones and plop them in the oven, and take out my favorite china pieces. During this time, I just reflected on what I am doing with my blogs, writing, and the recipe book that I am making, and how I can plan and add goals. This made me not only more relaxed, but also excited to continue to devote time in sharing how to have the perfect tea hour to all of you, dear readers. I was also reminded that having tea is not just about the tea, but the ceremony. To admire beautifully baked scones, the delicate china, and the loveliness of life. That is why we need to take an hour to be reminded that life is beautiful, and need the time to appreciate and celebrate it.
So I hope you take the time to have some afternoon tea and pamper yourselves. We all deserve an hour off.
Thanks for reading, and see you next time,
Alyssa
